Maharashtra Police Constable Recruitment 2025: The Maharashtra government has made a significant announcement regarding the recruitment of police constables. The state has decided to permit candidates who have surpassed the age limit from 2022 to 2025 to apply. A total of 15,631 constable positions are available within the state police and jail department. This exemption provides considerable relief to youth who have been preparing for these roles but were previously disqualified due to age restrictions.
As per the Home Department's notification, the previous exemption was limited to candidates who exceeded the maximum age in 2022 and 2023. However, this has now been expanded to include those who crossed the age limit in 2024 and 2025. The new regulation allows all candidates who have surpassed the age limit from 2022 to 2025 to submit their applications. It is important to note that this exemption will only be granted once.
Proposal Origin:
The proposal for this special exemption was put forth by the Special Inspector General (Training and Special Team) of Maharashtra Police. On September 1, 2025, he sent a letter advocating for the inclusion of many eligible candidates who were excluded solely due to age limitations. The government accepted this recommendation and made the decision.
Significance of the Decision for Candidates:
This exemption is particularly beneficial for candidates who have been preparing for several years. Those whose ages had exceeded the limit in previous years will now have another opportunity to apply for these positions.
Selection Process:
Candidates will be selected through a written examination, which will utilize an OMR sheet. The examination fee is set at Rs 450 for general category applicants and Rs 350 for those in reserved categories. The recruitment process includes 12,399 positions for Police Constables, 234 for Police Constable Drivers, 25 for Bandsmen, 2,393 for Armed Police Constables, and 580 for Jail Constables.
