LIC Launches Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme for 2025 to Aid Economically Weaker Students
Introduction to the Scholarship Scheme
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2025, which aims to assist talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative offers financial support for higher education at recognized institutions, both government and private, throughout India.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must come from families with an annual income not exceeding ₹4.5 lakh.
- For Class 10 Graduates: Candidates should have achieved a minimum of 60% marks in Class 10 during the academic years 2022-23, 2023-24, or 2024-25.
- For Class 12 Graduates: A minimum of 60% marks in Class 12 during the same academic years is required.
- Special Provisions for Girls: Female candidates who have scored at least 60% in Class 10 and are pursuing ITI, Class 12, or higher studies are eligible for additional scholarships.
Note: This scheme does not cover postgraduate courses.
Scholarship Allocation
LIC operates through 112 divisional offices nationwide, with each office selecting 100 students as follows:
- 80 General Scholarships: These are equally distributed between boys and girls (40 each). If there are fewer boys qualifying, the remaining slots will be allocated to girls.
- 20 Special Scholarships: These are exclusively reserved for female candidates.
Scholarship Benefits
- Medical Stream: Students pursuing MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, or BDS will receive ₹40,000 annually, paid in two installments of ₹20,000 each.
- Engineering Courses: Those enrolled in BE, BTech, or BArch will get ₹30,000 per year, distributed in two payments of ₹15,000 each.
- Undergraduate, Diploma, and ITI Courses: Selected candidates will receive ₹20,000 annually (₹10,000 in two installments).
- Special Scholarship for Girls: Girls admitted to ITI, Class 12, or diploma courses after Class 10 will receive ₹15,000 per year in two installments.
Direct Bank Transfer
The scholarship funds will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s active bank account via NEFT. Applicants must provide their bank account details, including the IFSC code and a cancelled cheque during the application process.
