Jharkhand Government Launches Aviation Training Programs for Aspiring Air Hostesses and Stewards

For those looking to embark on a career as an air hostess, flight steward, or ground handler, there is good news. The Jharkhand Flying Institute, under the auspices of the Jharkhand government, is now offering training programs, eliminating the need for private institutions. Admissions for these courses are currently open, aiming to bolster the state's aviation sector and create promising job opportunities for the youth. Interested individuals can submit their applications until July 31, 2026. Selection will be based on Class 12 merit, a personal interview, and proficiency in English.
Course Offerings and Fees
The institute provides four types of training programs, including both certificate and diploma courses. The fee for the six-month certificate course in Aviation and Hospitality, which includes training for air hostess, flight steward, and ground handler roles, is ₹1,00,500.
In contrast, the one-year diploma course in the same field costs ₹1,55,500. These fees encompass registration, study materials, uniforms, examination fees, grooming kits, and training in swimming and fitness.
Eligibility Criteria
As per the Jharkhand Flying Institute's advertisement, applicants must not have visible tattoos. This requirement is part of the eligibility criteria set by the department. Candidates should be aged between 18 and 27 years as of July 1, 2026.
Regarding physical standards, the minimum height requirement is 157 cm for women and 170 cm for men. Additionally, candidates must have completed Class 12 (10+2) in any stream.
Application Process
Candidates must submit a Demand Draft of ₹1,000 along with their application form, made out to ‘Jharkhand Flying Institute, Ranchi’. The application form can be downloaded from the institute's official website. Self-attested copies of all required documents must accompany the completed form.
Seat Reservations
According to departmental guidelines, a total of 60 candidates will be admitted to this course. Out of these, 30 seats are unreserved (General), while the remaining 30 seats will follow reservation rules. Specifically, 16 seats are designated for ST candidates, 6 for SC candidates, 4 for Backward Class-1, 2 for Backward Class-2, and 2 for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students.
