Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment 2026: Key Changes and Eligibility Criteria
Overview of Agniveer Recruitment 2026
Agniveer Recruitment 2026: The Indian Army is currently accepting applications for around 25,000 Agniveer positions. This recruitment initiative has introduced notable modifications, including a one-year extension in the age limit and the acknowledgment of six specialized vocational courses. This adjustment allows youth engaged in vocational training to enlist in the Indian Army under the Technical Agniveer category, aiming to incorporate technically adept individuals into the Army's contemporary operational framework. The maximum age limit has been raised from 21 to 22 years.
Vocational Courses Aligned with NEP 2020

The Indian Army has introduced the flexibility to apply under multiple categories this time. Candidates can select between the Regular Entry Category (for permanent positions in the Indian Army) and two Agniveer categories based on their qualifications.
Application Process and Examination
Candidates opting for two categories will need to complete separate application forms for each and attend two distinct Common Entrance Exams (CEEs) corresponding to their selected categories. However, they will only need to participate in one recruitment rally and undergo a single medical examination, specifically for the category with the more stringent Physical Fitness Test/medical standards. It is essential for candidates to indicate their category preference during the application process. Final choices will be confirmed after the recruitment rally concludes. The merit and selection process will follow a pre-established priority for various categories, including regular entry. Once the merit list is finalized, candidates may opt for a lower priority category before being assigned to the training/regimental center, provided they submit a "No Claim Certificate."
