India Post Announces Recruitment for 28,740 Gramin Dak Sevak Positions
India Post Recruitment Notification
India Post has issued a notification regarding the recruitment of a significant number of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions nationwide. The application process for filling 28,740 vacant GDS roles will commence on January 31st. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online until February 14th, with the fee payment deadline set for February 16th.
Candidates will have the opportunity to make corrections to their application forms from February 18th to 19th. The initial merit list for this recruitment is expected to be published on February 28, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the GDS positions, candidates must be Indian citizens and should have completed their 10th grade from a recognized board or institution. It is essential for candidates to have passing marks in both Mathematics and English subjects in their 10th-grade examinations. The age requirement stipulates that candidates must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 40 years of age. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories as per the applicable regulations.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates for these positions will be based solely on a merit list, eliminating the need for any examination or interview. However, those who are shortlisted in the merit list will be required to undergo document verification.
