Income Tax Recruitment 2026 Overview
The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Region has announced a recruitment drive for Canteen Attendants. This initiative aims to fill 7 Group-C positions. Interested applicants can submit their applications from August 11 to August 31, 2026. Importantly, there is no application fee for candidates across all categories.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Canteen Attendant roles, applicants must be Indian citizens aged between 18 and 25 years as of August 31, 2026. A minimum educational qualification of passing the 10th grade from a recognized board is required. This position is classified as Group-C, Non-Gazetted, and Non-Ministerial, with a probation period of 2 years for selected candidates.

Selection Process
The selection for the Canteen Attendant position will occur in three phases:
1. **Shortlisting**: 280 candidates will be shortlisted for the written exam based on their 10th-grade marks, with 40 candidates selected for each available position.
2. **Written Examination**: A 30-minute test worth 40 marks will be administered, featuring 40 multiple-choice questions. Candidates requiring a scribe will receive 40 minutes to complete the exam. Topics will include English comprehension, Hindi comprehension, food and nutrition, mathematics, and hygiene/cleanliness. Each correct answer earns 1 mark, while 0.25 marks are deducted for incorrect answers. The exam will take place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
3. **Skill Test**: Following the written exam, 70 candidates will be invited to a skill test, also held in Bhopal, which will be worth 60 marks. This test will evaluate candidates' abilities in beverage preparation, food handling, food preparation, presentation, and hygiene/cleanliness.
Salary and Benefits
Selected candidates for the Canteen Attendant role will receive a salary aligned with the 7th Pay Commission. The position falls under Pay Level-1, with a salary range of ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month. Initially, candidates will earn a basic pay of ₹18,000, along with additional benefits such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other allowances as per Central Government regulations.
