IIT Bombay: Leading the Way in Admissions



According to recent findings, IIT Bombay has secured the highest number of admissions among the top-ranked students this year. A report from the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) indicates that 73 out of the top 100 students have selected IIT Bombay as their preferred institution.


The JIC report highlights that IIT Bombay stands out as the top choice for students aspiring to pursue B.Tech, particularly among the JEE Advanced 2025 toppers.


Admissions Overview

The report reveals that IIT Bombay has outperformed other IITs in terms of admissions to the top 100 rank holders. Specifically, 73 students opted for IIT Bombay, while 19 chose IIT Delhi and 6 selected IIT Madras.


This trend underscores IIT Bombay's popularity among the highest achievers in the JEE Advanced examination.


Increased Seat Allotment

The JIC Report for 2025 also notes that no other IIT has admitted candidates from the top 100 ranks this year. Interestingly, many IITs have exceeded their total seat allotments. For instance, while IIT Bombay has a capacity of 1360 seats, it allocated 1364 seats in the final round.


This increase in seat allotment reflects the growing demand for admission to IIT Bombay.


JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Details

The JEE Advanced 2025 examination took place on May 18 across 258 centers in approximately 155 cities. A total of 54,378 candidates successfully cleared this exam, which is essential for securing admission to IITs.


The JEE examination consists of two stages: JEE Mains, which serves as a qualifying test, and JEE Advanced, which is the final assessment for IIT admissions.
