Overview: The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has announced the opening of online applications for the Gujarat Education Service, Class-II (Administrative Branch). This recruitment drive aims to fill 128 vacancies, and applicants must meet the specified educational qualifications and experience requirements.


Candidates are required to hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. Additionally, they must possess a valid teaching or education degree, such as B.Ed., M.Ed., or an equivalent qualification recognized by the government. These qualifications should be obtained from universities established by a Central or State Act or institutions acknowledged by the UGC.


Furthermore, candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in the education sector, which can be in teaching or administrative roles. This experience should be acquired in government, local body, university, or private/government-funded educational institutions.


Selection Process


The selection for these positions will involve a preliminary examination followed by an interview. Candidates' applications will be assessed based on their performance in the preliminary exam, and those who qualify will be invited for an interview. Candidates scoring below 15% in the preliminary exam will be disqualified from the interview process. The examination medium will be determined by the Commission, typically conducted in Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad. Candidates are responsible for their own travel expenses to the examination center.


The preliminary examination will feature 300 questions worth a total of 300 marks. This includes 100 questions (100 marks) from General Studies, with a time limit of 60 minutes, and 200 questions (200 marks) from the relevant subject, allotted 120 minutes.


Application Fee and Salary Structure


The application fee is set at ₹100 for candidates in the unreserved (general) category, while candidates from reserved categories of Gujarat origin, EWS, PwBD, and ex-servicemen are exempt from fees. All applications must be submitted online.


The pay scale for the Gujarat Education Service Class II is classified as Level 8, with a monthly salary ranging from ₹44,900 to ₹142,400, inclusive of other allowances as per government regulations.
