GATE 2027 Exam Dates: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has unveiled the full schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. This year, several notable modifications have been made, including a syllabus update after nearly five years and the introduction of 'Robotics and Automation' (RA) as a distinct exam paper.
To bolster the security of the examination process, the online registration system now incorporates DigiLocker and face authentication. Candidates are encouraged to complete these verification steps promptly during the registration phase.

New Paper Introduction
The syllabus has undergone revisions after about five years, with the addition of a new exam paper titled 'Robotics and Automation' (RA).
Moreover, features such as DigiLocker and face authentication have been integrated into the online registration process to enhance the security and transparency of the examination.
Robotics and Automation Paper Launch
IIT Madras has introduced 'Robotics and Automation' (RA) as a separate paper to meet the increasing industrial demand for expertise in automation and intelligent systems. The GATE syllabus has been updated to reflect current academic and industrial standards.
**Total of 30 Papers**
Another significant change for GATE 2027 is the inclusion of the Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) paper as a sectional paper within Engineering Sciences (XE).
As a result, GATE 2027 will feature a total of 30 test papers.
**Option to Appear for One or Two Papers**
Candidates can choose to take either one or two papers based on the approved combinations.
All question papers will be available solely in English.
**Registration Security Enhancements**
To improve the security of the examination process, the online application procedure is now linked to DigiLocker, and face authentication will be required to verify candidates' identities.
IIT Madras has advised candidates to complete the DigiLocker and face authentication processes well ahead of time to prevent any complications during registration or entry into the examination venue.
