Foxconn's Major Investment in Tamil Nadu
Foxconn, a leading manufacturing firm from Taiwan, has announced a substantial investment of ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, which is expected to generate 14,000 high-quality jobs. This significant development was revealed by TRB Raja, the Tamil Nadu Industry Minister, through an Instagram post on Monday. He emphasized that this marks the largest engineering job agreement in the state's history, providing a significant boost to the electronics and advanced manufacturing sectors. The investment will introduce value-added manufacturing, research and development, and AI-driven technology operations in Tamil Nadu.
During a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Foxconn's representative in India, Robert Wu, expressed strong confidence in the state's potential and committed to the investment. Furthermore, the state's investment agency, Guidance, will begin producing Foxconn desks in India, enhancing operational efficiency. "We are laying the groundwork for the Dravidian Model 2.0," Raja stated.
This announcement follows Wu's discussions with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his residence in Bengaluru, where they explored opportunities to expand Foxconn's operations in Karnataka and investigate new manufacturing and technology avenues. Foxconn currently operates in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana.
