According to the latest directive from the Department of Education and Literacy, all educational institutions, including CBSE, ICSE, and state boards, will remain closed during this period to ensure the safety of students.
Details of the Official Order
The official order states, 'Considering the severe cold prevailing in many parts of the state and its potential impact on children's health, this decision has been made.' It is important to note that this holiday applies only to students; teachers and non-teaching staff are required to report to school as usual.
Pre-Board Exams to Proceed as Scheduled
The official notification clarifies that all pre-board examinations scheduled during this period may still take place as planned. The state government has left this decision to the respective schools. Therefore, students are advised to stay in touch with their schools for accurate information regarding the timetable.
School Closures in Jaipur and Tripura
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, both government and private schools will remain closed until January 10 due to the cold weather. The government issued a notice based on recommendations from meteorological experts to ensure student safety.
In Jaipur, the following holidays have been declared: students from pre-primary to class 5 will have holidays from January 6 to January 10, 2026, while students from class 6 to class 8 will have holidays from January 6 to January 8, 2026.
Tripura Schools Also Closed
Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced school closures from January 6 to January 10, 2026. An official from the Agartala center of the India Meteorological Department reported that a cold wave has persisted in the state for over a week, causing minimum temperatures to drop by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below normal.
