Indian Railways Announces Massive Recruitment for Apprentices
New Delhi: For those aspiring to work in Indian Railways, the South Central Railway has unveiled a remarkable opportunity. The department has issued a notification for a significant recruitment drive for apprentice positions, aiming to fill a total of 2,801 vacancies. Candidates from across the nation are invited to apply, with the application process being conducted online for convenience.
This recruitment initiative will see the appointment of 2,801 apprentices in various technical trades, including Electrician, Fitter, Welder, COPA, and AC Mechanic. According to the department, the highest number of vacancies are available for the Electrician and Fitter trades. Applicants can submit their applications based on their area of expertise, which will greatly assist them in understanding the operational procedures of the railway in the future.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit
Candidates must have completed their 10th or 12th grade from a recognized board. Additionally, an ITI certificate in the relevant trade is mandatory. The age limit is set between 15 and 24 years, with the age calculated as of March 23, 2026. Reserved categories such as OBC will receive a three-year age relaxation, while SC/ST candidates will benefit from a five-year extension.
Selection Process Without Examination
There will be no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Selection will be based on a merit list derived from the marks obtained in the 10th grade and ITI. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend ranging from ₹10,500 to ₹15,000, providing them with valuable technical experience in the railway sector. Following this, only document verification will take place, ensuring a completely transparent and fair selection process.
Application Fee Details
The application fee is set at ₹100 for general and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, and female applicants can apply for free. Interested candidates can make payments through online banking or cards. Applications without the required fee will not be accepted, as the railway has opted for online payment to enhance transparency in the process.
