For those preparing for government roles, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued a brief notification regarding openings for positions such as Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). The application window will open on October 31, 2025, and candidates can submit their applications online at rrbapply.gov.in.


The deadline for applications is November 30, 2025. If applicants make any errors while filling out their forms, they will have the chance to rectify them from December 3 to December 12, 2025. Therefore, it is crucial for candidates to verify all details before final submission.


Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply?


Candidates interested in these roles must possess a B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant field or a diploma/degree in Computer Science/IT. Graduates with backgrounds in Chemistry and Physics are also eligible.

As per the Railway Recruitment Board, applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 33 years of age. The age will be calculated as of January 1, 2026, with age relaxation applicable for candidates from reserved categories according to government norms.


Selection Process Overview

Selection Methodology


The selection for these railway positions will involve a multi-stage process rather than a single examination. Candidates will need to complete four stages: a written examination (CBT), document verification, and a medical examination.


Examination Stages

First Stage - CBT I


The initial exam will feature 100 questions, with a time limit of 90 minutes. Topics will include Mathematics, General Intelligence, General Science, and General Awareness. Note that there will be negative marking, with 1/3 of a mark deducted for incorrect answers.


Second Stage - CBT II


The second exam will consist of 150 questions, allowing 120 minutes for completion. This stage will cover technical subjects, physics, chemistry, computers, environmental science, and general awareness, with no negative marking.


Third Stage - Document Verification


Candidates who successfully pass both CBT stages will proceed to document verification.


Fourth Stage - Medical Examination


Before final selection, candidates must undergo a medical fitness assessment to confirm their eligibility for railway service.


Salary and Benefits

Salary Structure


Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of ₹35,400, along with various government benefits, including dearness allowance, travel allowance, medical facilities, and pension plans.
