Exciting Apprenticeship Opportunities in South East Central Railway
Overview of the Apprenticeship Program
The railway industry presents an excellent chance for youth to acquire practical experience through apprenticeships. Currently, a recruitment initiative for "Act Apprentices" has been launched by Apprenticeship India under the South East Central Railway (SECR), specifically targeting the Nagpur Division and the Motibagh Workshop. The online application process for this initiative has already begun. For the 2026-27 session, a total of 1,079 apprentices will be selected across various trades. The official notification was released on May 19, and applications opened on the same day, remaining open until June 18, 2026.
Application Process
As per the notification, applications will be accepted solely through the online platform. Candidates must choose between the Nagpur Division or the Motibagh Workshop while filling out the application form. Railway officials recommend that applicants accurately enter their Class 10th and ITI scores before submission. Those who are selected will participate in a one-year apprenticeship training program.
Eligibility Requirements
Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have completed Class 10th from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Additionally, an ITI certificate in the relevant trade is required.
Age Limit: As of May 19, 2026, applicants must be aged between 15 and 24 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided for candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.
Steps to Apply
Interested candidates can register through the official apprenticeship portal until June 18, 2026. According to the notification, SECR will recruit apprentices following the guidelines of the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. Railway officials advise candidates to complete their applications well in advance of the deadline to avoid any technical issues during the final registration days.
Selection Process
The SECR will create a merit list based on the marks obtained in the Matriculation and ITI examinations relevant to the trade. Only candidates who achieve at least 50% in Class 10 and hold an ITI qualification will be considered for the merit list. In case of a tie in marks, preference will be given to the older candidate; if ages are the same, the candidate who completed the Matriculation examination first will be prioritized.
