Overview of the Apprenticeship Program
If you've completed your ITI, diploma, or graduation and are eager to start an apprenticeship with a renowned government organization, this is a great chance for you. The Rourkela Steel Plant, part of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has announced a one-year apprenticeship training program for the 2026-27 period. This recruitment drive aims to select 1,110 qualified candidates. Importantly, there will be no written test; selections will be made based on merit through a walk-in process. Interested individuals can submit their applications online until August 26, 2026.
Available Positions
The recruitment drive will fill various positions, including:
1. 421 Trade Apprentice
2. 414 Diploma Apprentice
3. 275 Graduate Apprentice
To qualify for Trade Apprentice roles, candidates must have completed an ITI course in the relevant trade. For Diploma Apprentices, a diploma in fields such as Engineering, GNM, D.Pharma, or Radiology is required.
Eligibility Criteria
For Graduate Apprentice roles, candidates with degrees in Engineering, BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, and BSc Nursing can apply. It's essential that applicants have completed their qualifications as regular students between 2022 and 2026.
Age Limit and Stipend
Applicants should be aged between 18 and 28 years, with age calculated as of August 31, 2026. The stipend for selected candidates will be as follows:
1. Trade Apprentices: ₹9,600 to ₹10,560 per month
2. Diploma Apprentices: ₹10,900 per month
3. Graduate Apprentices: ₹12,300 per month
Application Process
Candidates need to register on the appropriate apprenticeship portal. Those who have completed ITI should register on the Apprenticeship India portal, while diploma or degree holders must register on the NATS portal. In both cases, they should select 'STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA LIMITED, ROURKELA STEEL PLANT.' The last date for online applications is August 26, 2026. After this, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a walk-in process in September 2026 based on the merit list.
