The AICTE-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program offers a unique chance for 300 undergraduate students from fields such as engineering, management, pharmacy, and architecture to participate in a fully funded 12-week research internship in Canada. This initiative will allow Indian students to engage in research at prestigious Canadian universities, starting from 2027, with internships scheduled between May and October over a three-year span.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

The application window for the 2027 internship program is now open, with a submission deadline of September 16. According to AICTE Chairman Professor Yogesh Singh, applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution. Additionally, proficiency in either English or French is mandatory for all candidates.

Background of the Program

In March, a bilateral agreement was established during the Canadian Prime Minister's visit to India, focusing on educational collaboration, research partnerships, and talent mobility. This agreement led to the expansion of the GRI program. Reports indicate that Canada continues to be a favored destination for Indian students seeking higher education, with 427,000 Indian students traveling there in 2024.
