Delhi University Unveils New Hostel Project for Students

On Monday, a significant milestone was achieved with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new hostel and residential block at the Dhaka campus of Delhi University (DU). The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, who served as the chief guest, alongside K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC, as the special guest.
Prof. Singh emphasized that this initiative aims to offer students state-of-the-art accommodation. The project is estimated to cost ₹332.83 crore and will house 1,436 students. The structure will be built on a 29,445 square meter site and will stand 35 meters tall, featuring nine floors in addition to the ground level.
Enhanced Living Conditions for Students
The Vice-Chancellor further detailed that the project will include hostels with equal capacity for both male and female students. Each section will accommodate 718 individuals. The boys' hostel will consist of 58 single rooms, 220 triplet rooms, and 38 units for married or attached students, along with a master apartment. The girls' hostel will mirror this arrangement.
Attendance of Key Officials
The ceremony was attended by several prominent DU officials, including Dean of Colleges Professor Balram Pani, South Campus Director Professor Rajni Abbi, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, Cultural Council Chairperson Anoop Lathar, and Chief Engineer Ashok Saini. Representatives from NBCC and Sam India Builtwell Private Limited were also present. Once completed, this project will provide DU students with a secure, comfortable, and modern living environment equipped with contemporary amenities.
