Introduction of RSS in Delhi's School Curriculum


Significant modifications are set to take place in the educational framework of Delhi's government schools. The curriculum will now incorporate teachings about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Students will learn about influential personalities such as Veer Savarkar, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, with their biographies being integrated into the lessons. Preparations for these updates have been finalized, and they will be officially included in the curriculum following the necessary approvals.


Details of the Curriculum Changes

National Policy Program Initiatives
These curriculum updates are part of the National Policy Program initiated by the Delhi government. The Directorate of Education will introduce lessons focusing on the RSS and various freedom fighters. Students will study the contributions of figures like Veer Savarkar, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, among others. The curriculum will also cover the origins, history, ideology, and the role of RSS members during natural disasters and the freedom struggle.


Focus on Cultural Awareness
The revised curriculum aims to enhance students' understanding of history, cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility associated with the RSS, which was established by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur in 1925.


Training for Educators

Teacher Training Initiatives
A comprehensive framework for the curriculum changes has been developed, including a handbook for educators. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will conduct training sessions for teachers. However, the final decision regarding which classes will adopt this new curriculum is still under consideration.


Celebrating 100 Years of RSS

Centenary Celebration
The inclusion of RSS teachings in the curriculum coincides with the upcoming centenary of the organization, which was founded on Vijayadashami in 1925. This year, Vijayadashami falls on October 2nd, marking the beginning of the celebrations for the RSS's 100th anniversary next year.
