Application Timeline and Guidelines

Parents have until December 27th to submit applications for their children. The Directorate has mandated that all schools display their admission criteria, point systems, and available seats on their websites and the DOE portal to facilitate the application process for parents. Below are the details regarding the required documents for nursery admissions in Delhi schools.


Admission Criteria and Age Requirements

As per the guidelines from the Directorate of Education, children must meet the following age requirements by March 31, 2026:



  • Nursery: Over 3 years and under 4 years

  • KG: Over 4 years and under 5 years

  • Class 1: Over 5 years and under 6 years


Children currently enrolled in nursery or KG will automatically advance to the next grade. New admissions are exclusively for first-time applicants. The registration fee is fixed at ₹25, and no donations are permitted. Admissions for 75% of general category seats will be allocated based on a points system that considers factors such as distance from the school, siblings already enrolled, and staff wards.

To complete the admission process, the following documents are necessary:



  • Child's birth certificate

  • Valid address proof (e.g., ration card, utility bill, Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport)

  • Parent's identity proof

  • Passport-sized photographs of the child and parents

  • Proof of siblings enrolled in the school (if applicable)

  • Parent's alumnus certificate (if applicable)

  • Disability certificate for applicants in the disabled category
