A significant announcement has been made for candidates preparing for government teaching positions. If you have been diligently preparing for the CTET exam, this article is tailored for you. The application process for the CTET 2026 has officially commenced.
Application Details from CBSE
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the application process for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). According to the public notice released by the board, the CTET exam will take place in September 2026 across 132 cities in the country and will be conducted in 27 languages. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website ctet.nic.in. The exam is scheduled for September 6, 2026 (Sunday), and the last date for submitting the application fee is June 10.
Changes in Exam City Allotment
This year, the board has introduced a significant change in the application process. Candidates will no longer have the option to select their preferred exam city on the portal. The CBSE will randomly assign exam cities, and once allocated, requests for changes will not be entertained.
Educational Qualifications Required
- Paper-1: For teaching classes 1 to 5 (Primary Level Teacher), candidates must have completed their 12th grade and possess a diploma in D.El.Ed / BTC / JBT / B.El.Ed / Elementary Education.
- Paper-2: For teaching classes 6 to 8 (Primary Level Teacher), candidates should hold a graduation degree along with a B.Ed, D.El.Ed/B.Ed in Special Education, or an equivalent qualification.
Salary Structure
The salary for various teaching positions is as follows:
PRT: ₹35,000 - ₹55,000 per month
TGT: ₹45,000 - ₹70,000 per month
PGT: ₹60,000 - ₹90,000 per month, along with additional allowances and benefits.
Selection Process Overview
Candidates will first need to take a written test, followed by document verification, and finally, a medical examination.
Application Fees
General and OBC candidates must pay ₹1,000 for either Paper-1 or Paper-2, while the fee for both papers is ₹1,200.
SC, ST, and PWD candidates will need to pay ₹500 for either paper and ₹600 for both.
Exam Pattern
- Paper-1: For classes 1 to 5 (Primary Level Teacher) and classes 6 to 8 (Primary Level Teacher)
- Duration: Two and a half hours
- No negative marking.
