Chaos Erupts as Hospital Attendant Exam in Lucknow Gets Canceled

On Sunday, the recruitment exam for 'Hospital Attendant Grade 2' at SGPGI in Lucknow was abruptly canceled due to severe administrative mismanagement. Candidates who traveled from various states were outraged upon arrival, only to find the exam had been called off at three centers. Technical issues with biometric systems were cited as the reason for the cancellation, leading to protests and dissatisfaction among students. The situation was exacerbated by a last-minute change from an online to an offline exam format, and a lack of clear communication regarding the cancellation added to the confusion. Police were called to manage the unrest as candidates expressed their frustrations.

Administrative Failures Lead to Exam Cancellation

On Sunday, significant administrative failures were evident during the recruitment exam for 'Hospital Attendant Grade 2' at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Candidates who had traveled long distances were left furious when they learned that the exam was abruptly canceled at three centers in the Chhota Bharwara area of Gomti Nagar Extension. Upon arriving punctually, the candidates expressed their anger through protests and slogans after discovering the cancellation.

Candidates Arrive Only to Find Exam Canceled

Thousands of candidates from Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states had come to Lucknow for the scheduled exam. The centers included SDSN Degree College, SDSN Public School, and Juris College of Law, all located in Chhota Bharwara. When students arrived around 7:00 AM for the first shift, they were unexpectedly informed of the cancellation. Initial reports indicated that the exam could not start on time due to technical difficulties and failures in the biometric systems at these centers, leading to widespread unrest.

Technical Issues and Agency Mismanagement

As tensions rose, SGPGI's examination cell released an official statement explaining that the exam could not proceed at the three centers due to technical errors and operational mismanagement by the agency responsible for conducting the test. However, candidates claimed they had received no prior notice about the cancellation. This abrupt decision resulted in a significant waste of their time and travel expenses. Additionally, there were unverified rumors among some students about a potential paper leak, but no official confirmation has been provided by PGI administration.

Frustration Over Changes in Exam Format

Candidates were already dissatisfied with the recruitment process. Initially, SGPGI intended to conduct the exam online, but the format was unexpectedly changed to offline, further aggravating the students' frustrations.

Confusion Due to Lack of Communication

In response to the chaos, police from various stations, including the Gomti Nagar Extension police station, arrived to manage the situation. For an extended period, law enforcement and examination center officials worked to calm the distressed students. A major concern for the candidates was that the cancellation notice was communicated only through plain sheets of paper or verbally, with no detailed announcement posted on the official SGPGI website. This lack of clear communication left students feeling uncertain and concerned about potential misinformation.
