CBSE Introduces New System for Error Correction in Board Exam Documents

CBSE Prepares for 2026 Board Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up for the upcoming 10th and 12th board examinations scheduled for 2026. In this context, the board has issued directives to school principals regarding the List of Candidates (LOC) who will be taking the exams. Additionally, CBSE has unveiled a new system aimed at rectifying errors found in the mark sheets and certificates for both classes.
Understanding the New Error Correction System
Issuance of Data Verification Slip
CBSE has instructed affiliated schools to compile and submit the list of students participating in the 2026 board exams. Alongside this, the board has introduced a new mechanism for correcting errors related to names and dates of birth on mark sheets and certificates. According to the recent circular, once schools submit the list of candidates, a data verification slip will be generated for each student, allowing for corrections based on this document.
Details of the Verification Slip
Contents and Functionality of the Slip
The data verification slip will include essential details such as the candidate's name, their parent's or guardian's name, date of birth, and the subjects for the board exams. Should any discrepancies arise in this slip, corrections can be made accordingly. CBSE emphasizes that this initiative is designed to ensure accurate data and subject allocation for the 2026 board examinations.
Correction Timeline and Finality
Deadline for Corrections
CBSE has made it clear that any errors identified in the data verification slip can be rectified before the exams. A window for making these corrections will be available from October 13 to October 27. After this period, no further changes will be permitted, as stated in the circular issued by the board.
