CBSE Faces Teacher Shortage for Class 10 and 12 Exam Evaluations in Delhi

Evaluation Process Stalled Due to Teacher Shortage

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has wrapped up the Class 10 board examinations, while several Class 12 subject exams have already been conducted, with the remaining ones scheduled until April 9. However, during this crucial period, the CBSE has begun the evaluation process but is facing significant challenges in Delhi due to a lack of available teachers. This shortage has effectively halted the evaluation of answer sheets for the CBSE board exams in the region. In response, the CBSE has reached out to the Directorate of Education in Delhi.

Reasons Behind Teacher Unavailability

The evaluation of board exam answer sheets has commenced, yet the CBSE is struggling to secure teachers for this task in Delhi. The main issue stems from school principals not allowing teachers to take on evaluation responsibilities. As teachers remain occupied with their regular school duties, the evaluation process has not been able to progress smoothly.

CBSE's Communication with the Directorate of Education

The CBSE has formally communicated with the Directorate of Education in Delhi regarding this issue. A letter from the CBSE's Delhi-West Regional Office, specifically from the Confidential Branch, has requested the Directorate's intervention. The correspondence highlights ongoing reports that both guest and regular teachers from Delhi Government schools are not being released for evaluation duties, which is negatively impacting the evaluation process. The letter mentions that school administrations are referencing a 2024 circular from the Directorate that advises against relieving guest teachers for CBSE-related tasks.

CBSE's Request for Action

In its letter, the CBSE has urged the Directorate of Education to reconsider its stance on the release of guest teachers for evaluation purposes. This action is deemed essential to ensure the timely completion of the evaluation process. The responsibility now lies with the Directorate of Education, and it is important to note that guest teachers have historically been vital in the evaluation of CBSE board examinations in Delhi.
