CBSE 12th Re-evaluation Update: Refunds for Excess Fees and Extended Application Deadline
Latest Developments in CBSE 12th Re-evaluation
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important update regarding the re-evaluation process for the Class 12 Board Examination results of 2026. Students who were charged excess fees will receive refunds for the overcharged amounts.
Challenges Faced by Students
Following the release of the 2026 results, numerous students engaged in the re-checking and re-evaluation of their marks. Many encountered issues while trying to apply for scanned copies of their answer sheets. Some students experienced deductions exceeding the required fee, while others faced problems due to insufficient payments. Additionally, technical difficulties on the CBSE website hindered many from completing their applications.
CBSE's Response to Fee Issues
In response to these challenges, CBSE has confirmed that students who were overcharged will be refunded through the same payment method used for the original transaction. Those who submitted insufficient fees will be contacted separately, and any remaining balance will be collected later. Importantly, affected students will still receive their scanned answer sheets without needing to reapply.
Technical Glitches and Student Concerns
On May 21 and 22, 2026, a surge in traffic on the CBSE portal led to significant technical issues, causing many students to receive "Payment Failed" messages. Some students were charged multiple times, while others faced website crashes that prevented them from completing their applications. This situation caused considerable distress among students and parents, prompting many to voice their concerns on social media.
Extended Application Deadline
Initially, the deadline for applying for scanned answer sheets was May 23, 2026. However, due to ongoing technical issues and high traffic, CBSE has extended this deadline to May 24, 2026, allowing more students to submit their applications.
