Investigation into NEET Paper Leak

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a suspect from Nashik, Maharashtra, as part of the ongoing investigation into the NEET question paper leak. This development follows inquiries into a coaching center located in Latur.

On Tuesday evening, the CBI took custody of an individual linked to the NEET paper leak case. Earlier that day, the Nashik Police's Crime Branch, responding to a request from Rajasthan Police, detained Shubham Khairnar, a 30-year-old resident of Nandgaon. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Kumar Chavan confirmed that Khairnar was arrested in the Indira Nagar area.

The NEET (UG)-2026 exam, which is crucial for admission into medical colleges, took place on May 3. However, the examination was canceled on May 12, 2026, due to allegations of a question paper leak. In response, the government has instructed the CBI to carry out a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities. Additionally, a police official indicated that the question paper leak might be connected to Latur, where a parent of a student who took the exam lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police on Tuesday.

Police Direct Immediate Investigation

The complaint alleges that a private coaching institute in Latur conducted a mock test for its students before the NEET (UG)-2026 exam. Alarmingly, 42 questions from this mock test reportedly matched those on the actual exam. This has raised concerns about the coaching institute's potential involvement in a broader question paper leak scheme. Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe has instructed Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sameersingh Salve to initiate an immediate investigation and take legal action against those responsible. The Latur Police have also urged the public to provide any information or evidence related to the NEET paper leak case, encouraging individuals with relevant details to contact SDPO Salve directly.
