Addressing Teacher Shortages in Bihar



In light of the ongoing teacher shortage crisis in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has made a noteworthy declaration. He informed the assembly that the vacant teaching roles in schools would be filled within the upcoming month. This announcement came after JDU MLA Shalini Mishra raised concerns about the alarming 85 percent vacancy rate in the Education Department. It will be interesting to observe how many positions are actually filled within this timeframe. Higher Education Minister Sanjay Tiger also indicated that the recruitment process would begin shortly.


Opposition's Concerns Addressed

During the session, RJD MLA Bhai Birendra questioned the issue of students and teachers not adhering to proper dress codes. In response, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari clarified that such claims were unfounded and requested specific examples for investigation, promising action within 48 hours. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Chaudhary added that while students are required to wear uniforms, teachers should also dress appropriately.


TRE-4 Recruitment Announcement

Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari made a significant announcement regarding the TRE-4 recruitment initiative. He revealed that a notification would be released this month, aiming to recruit 100,000 teachers over the next five years. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has directed that any existing issues will be addressed, and all complaints will be resolved following the TRE recruitment process.


Concerns Over Unused Computers in Schools

Raju Tiwari raised concerns about computers in government schools that have been left unused. In response, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari assured that technical education facilities would be established in all schools by August 15, and an inquiry into the matter would be conducted. Additionally, the issue of 2,294 primary and middle schools across 33 districts, including Gopalganj, East Champaran, and West Champaran, lacking dedicated buildings was discussed.


Plans for School Infrastructure

Mithilesh Tiwari stated that many primary schools are unable to secure land for their buildings. The department has been tasked with compiling a list of schools without proper infrastructure. Furthermore, for areas facing land shortages, efforts are underway to acquire land from the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. The commitment is to ensure that no school is left without a building, and the government aims to fulfill this promise promptly.
