Important Update on Teacher Recruitment Examination



A significant announcement has been made regarding the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0) by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The BPSC has indicated that the online application process for appointing school teachers under Advertisement No. 14/2026 is expected to start on September 21, 2026. This will coincide with the release of a revised advertisement and necessary updates to the application process.


**Initial Application Date Was September 1**


Previously, the BPSC had planned for the online application period for TRE-4.0 to run from September 1 to September 30, 2026, with the application fee deadline set for September 29, 2026. However, the application link was not activated on the initial date. The Commission explained that procedural adjustments were required for the online application and advertisement. The latest notice confirms that the application process is now likely to commence on September 21 after these modifications.


**Single Examination with Negative Marking**


In a notable change for the TRE-4.0 examination, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced that the number of exams in the recruitment process has been reduced to one. Candidates will now only need to take a single exam, and negative marking will be implemented. The Minister mentioned that minor changes have been made to TRE-4, with the BPSC responsible for preparing the syllabus, creating the question paper, and conducting the examination. The specific exam date will be revealed by the Commission later.


**Recruitment for 33,385 Teacher Positions**


The recruitment process for vacant school teacher roles in Bihar's government schools will be conducted under BPSC TRE-4.0. Initially, the Commission announced recruitment for 32,386 teacher positions. However, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari later confirmed the addition of 111 more seats for Music subjects for Classes 9 and 10. A requisition for these extra posts will soon be submitted to the BPSC. Following this, the recruitment process for these positions under TRE-4 will advance. With the inclusion of the 111 Music posts, the total vacancies under TRE-4 have now reached 33,385. The recruitment process will proceed once the Education Department submits the requisition for these additional positions.
