Bihar Teacher Recruitment Sees Unprecedented Applications
Record Applications for Teacher Recruitment in Bihar
In an unprecedented turn of events, Bihar has witnessed a staggering influx of applications for its latest teacher recruitment initiative. Nearly 1 million candidates have registered, marking the highest participation ever for a teacher recruitment event in the state. The 'TRE-4' (Teacher Recruitment Examination-4) phase has announced 33,320 vacancies, attracting around 990,000 applicants. This translates to an intense competition, with almost 30 candidates competing for each available position.
Anticipation Surrounding the Recruitment
The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) teacher recruitment has been highly anticipated, with numerous protests occurring in Bihar prior to the official announcement. The overwhelming number of applications underscores the significant interest among the youth in securing government employment. The real challenge now lies in how these candidates will navigate the fierce competition to land one of the 33,320 teaching roles.
Comparison with Previous Recruitment Drives
Historically, previous teacher recruitment drives in Bihar attracted far fewer applicants. For instance, during TRE-3, around 450,000 candidates applied, while TRE-2 had 600,000 applicants. The first phase (TRE-1) saw 800,000 candidates. Thus, TRE-4 has set a new benchmark in terms of application numbers.
Effect of Application Deadline Extension
The application deadline for the Bihar teacher recruitment was initially set for October 26, 2026, but was later extended to November 3, 2026. This extension led to an influx of thousands of additional candidates, pushing the total to approximately 1 million. Although the examination date is yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated to occur in late December or early January.
