BPSC Teacher Recruitment Update



The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has revised its advertisement (No. 15/2026) for the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0), now including an additional 832 positions. This brings the total number of available school teacher roles to 33,220, up from the previous count of 32,388. The updated requisition adds 493 posts for secondary schools and 439 for higher secondary schools, marking a significant increase.


The secondary level encompasses roles for school teachers (Classes 9–10) and special school teachers, while the higher secondary level includes positions for teachers of Classes 11–12.


Subjects with Increased Posts

**Subjects with Added Positions:**


The BPSC has detailed that the revised requisition includes new posts for various subjects at both levels. At the secondary level, subjects such as Bangla, Fine Arts, Dance, Maithili, Special School Teacher, Arabic, Persian, and Music have seen an increase. For the higher secondary level, additional posts are available for Bangla, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, and Persian.


Eligibility Criteria Clarification

**Teacher Eligibility Marks:**


The BPSC has clarified the qualifying marks for the teacher eligibility examination. The provisions for BTET 2017 will also apply to CTET candidates. The minimum qualifying marks are set at 60% for General category candidates, 55% for Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class, and General category (female) candidates, and 50% for SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates. Candidates who have passed STET Paper-I and Paper-II will adhere to the qualifying marks set by the Bihar School Examination Board for the secondary teacher eligibility test. The same minimum marks for General category candidates will apply to all male and female candidates from outside the state.

The BPSC has made available comprehensive details regarding district-wise, subject-wise, and category-wise vacancies for secondary school teachers, special school teachers, and higher secondary school teachers on its official website. The amendments to Advertisement No. 15/2026, initially issued on September 22, will reflect these changes, while all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Eligibility and Age Limits

**Who Can Apply?**


Eligibility criteria and age limits differ based on the teaching level. The cut-off date for age calculation is January 1, 2026, with age relaxation provided to reserved categories as per regulations. Candidates must meet the specific eligibility requirements for the post they are applying for.


Primary and Middle School Teachers:


The age limit for these posts is 18 to 37 years. Candidates for primary school positions must have completed Class 12 and hold a D.Ed, JBT, or B.El.Ed, along with qualifying CTET/BTET Paper-1. For middle school teachers, a graduation degree with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and CTET/BTET Paper-2 qualification is necessary.


Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers:


The age limit for these posts is 21 to 37 years. A graduation degree with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-1 is required for secondary school teacher positions, while a postgraduate degree with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-2 qualification is needed for higher secondary school teacher roles.
