BPSC Preliminary Exam Results Released



The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the results for the 71st preliminary examination. Out of approximately 3.16 lakh candidates who took part, 14,261 successfully passed the exam.


Among those who qualified, 13,368 candidates are eligible for the General Administrative Services, while 893 have qualified for the Financial Administrative Officer role.


Initially, around 4.71 lakh candidates registered for the exam. Of these, about 3.57 lakh downloaded their admit cards, and 3.16 lakh actually appeared for the test, which took place across 912 centers in Bihar. The attendance rate was approximately 64.3%.


Candidates can check their results by visiting the official BPSC website at bpsc.bihar.gov.in.


The cutoffs have also been published: 88 marks for the General category, 82.33 for EWS, 84 for Backward Class, 81 for Extremely Backward Class, 72 for Scheduled Caste, and 71.33 for Scheduled Tribe. Notably, 211 candidates scored over 100 marks.


Following the results, the recruitment process for 1,298 positions will commence, with the main examination date to be announced shortly.


Main Examination Structure


The main examination will consist of three subjects:



  • General Hindi (100 marks) – This is a qualifying paper, requiring a minimum of 30 marks to pass, but its scores will not contribute to the merit list.

  • General Studies 1 (300 marks)

  • General Studies 2 (300 marks)

  • Optional Subject (300 marks)


All papers will be long-answer format, with each exam lasting 3 hours. Candidates who passed the preliminary exam should start preparing for the main exam, as competition is expected to be intense.


The announcement of the BPSC results has provided relief to many candidates, and attention now turns to the upcoming main exam.
