Teacher Recruitment Updates in Bihar

On Monday, Bihar's Education Minister, Sunil Kumar, revealed that the Teacher Recruitment Exam-4 (TRE-4) will soon lead to new appointments. He highlighted that 1.70 lakh teachers were hired through TRE-1 and 70,000 through TRE-2. However, the third exam, TRE-3, saw only a fraction of the 87,774 available positions filled. Kumar stated, "We aim to finalize the TRE-4 appointments shortly. The necessary roster clearance and requisition for TRE-4 will be submitted to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) by January 15-20." It is important to note that prior to the Bihar Assembly elections, numerous protests erupted over the incomplete filling of positions allocated under TRE-3.

Protests Regarding Bonus Marks

The Education Department has also confirmed that requisitions for the recruitment of 935 Assistant Education Development Officers and 7,279 teachers for special schools have been forwarded to the BPSC. Concurrently, candidates for engineering positions protested outside the Secretariat in Patna, opposing the allocation of bonus marks to contractual employees.

One protestor expressed, "In the BPSC Assistant Engineer recruitment exam, eligible contractual workers receive 133 bonus marks from a total of 400. This practice undermines the chances of fresh candidates." The demonstrators urged the government to abolish this "unjust law." In Bihar, contractual workers are awarded bonus marks based on their experience in various competitive examinations.
