BHU Launches UG Admission Registration



Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has initiated the online registration for undergraduate (UG) admissions. The application portal became accessible late Thursday night, allowing eligible candidates to submit their applications until 11:59 PM on July 25. This year, the university has implemented specific enhancements to the portal to ensure a more transparent and efficient admission process, aimed at allowing only qualified candidates to register.


As the postgraduate (PG) admission process approaches its conclusion, BHU has shifted its focus to undergraduate admissions. The UG admission portal is now active, and students interested in applying can do so until July 25. Prof. Bhaskar Bhattacharya, who oversees the Central Admission Committee, mentioned that technical upgrades have been made to the portal to limit applications to those who meet eligibility criteria. This initiative is expected to minimize delays and reduce the number of ineligible applicants.


**Available Seats Exceeding 9,200**


BHU has published the UG admission bulletin along with essential guidelines. There are around 9,200 seats available across more than 1,000 subject combinations in various faculties, including Arts, Science, Social Sciences, and Visual Arts. This includes reserved seats for specific categories, dependents of BHU staff, and international students. Annually, over a lakh students apply, but many applications are rejected due to documentation or eligibility issues.


**Ongoing Admissions at Kashi Vidyapith**


This year, the Samarth portal has introduced a system for the online verification of CUET-UG scores and required documents, facilitating early eligibility checks. Additionally, the seat allotment for courses that require practical examinations, such as BFA and BPA, will be conducted separately. The university aims to finalize the UG admission process by August.


At Kashi Vidyapith, 173 students enrolled in the B.Sc. (Biology) program and 22 in the B.Mus. program on Thursday. After fee payment, students received their identity and library cards immediately. Counseling sessions for the B.Sc. (Biology) and B.F.A. programs are set for July 10.
