Aditya Chopra's Inspiring Journey from UPSC Aspirant to Successful Entrepreneur
A Journey of Resilience and Innovation
New Delhi: Aditya Chopra, who grew up in Delhi, has a story that intertwines both triumph and setbacks. After completing his engineering degree, he dedicated three years to preparing for the UPSC exams. Despite reaching the interview stage in all three attempts, he was unable to secure a spot on the final list. Following this, Aditya shifted his focus from exam preparation to the corporate sector, where he initially worked at an equity research firm before joining a consulting company focused on social impact.
Inspiration from a Conversation
Through a network at Oxford University, Aditya met Professor Fe Kusiro, a researcher in microplastics. Their discussion highlighted concerns regarding microplastics in children's bodies, sparking Aditya's idea to address the use of plastic in baby products. He noted that approximately 90% of the teething toys sold in India are made of plastic, prompting him to halt his carpet business.
Launching a New Venture with Two Products
In July 2025, Aditya launched Nuboo from Faridabad, Haryana, starting with just two teething products. The brand has since expanded its product line to 15 SKUs, focusing on baby products made from 100% food-grade silicone and cotton-paper. Aditya prioritized product quality and safety over cheaper plastic alternatives.
Sales Surge from Smaller Cities
Nuboo's silicone teethers are certified free from BPA, PVC, and heavy metals under BIS IS 9873 standards. According to the company, 60-65% of its sales come from over 700 tier-2 and tier-3 cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Kohima, Agra, and Jaipur. The brand reaches customers through platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and its own website.
Orders Without Advertising
To date, Nuboo has fulfilled over 20,000 orders. The company reports that around 30-40% of its sales are generated through word-of-mouth and parent groups, without any advertising. Nuboo is experiencing a monthly growth rate of approximately 25% and aims to achieve EBITDA-positive status soon, currently operating with a team of eight members.
Aiming for 200 Crore Revenue
In the next 6-7 months, Aditya plans to launch 15 new products to cater to the needs of children aged 0 to 5 years. The company also intends to enter the Middle Eastern market via Dubai, followed by expansions into the UK and US markets. The immediate goal is to achieve a monthly revenue of 1 crore rupees, with a long-term target of reaching 200 crore rupees within four years.
