Recognition for Excellence in Education

A primary school in Maharashtra has been honored with the 2025 World's Best School Prize Community Choice Award, which will be presented in London this week. This recognition highlights the school's remarkable journey from the brink of closure to achieving global acclaim.

Zilla Parishad Prathmik Shala, located in Jalindernagar, Khed taluka, has been awarded in the category of best school. This accolade was initiated by T4 Education, a UK-based organization, to celebrate schools that significantly impact students' lives, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Innovative Teaching Model

The school was chosen for its innovative approach to government education, which emphasizes quality, student-led learning through a unique subject-specific system and a collaborative teaching model.

In this model, students of varying ages engage in learning together, fostering an environment where they teach and learn from one another. Dattatreya Ware, a teacher at the school, expressed his pride in receiving this prestigious award.

A Remarkable Transformation

Ware shared that the school, situated in a tribal area, faced severe challenges, having only three students in 2022 and being on the verge of shutting down. However, in just two years, it has undergone a significant transformation, achieving world-class standards.

"This change has not only improved the infrastructure but also enhanced academic performance. This is merely the beginning of a significant shift in our education system," Ware stated.

Among 50 schools nominated across five categories for the World's Best School Prize, ZP Primary School, Jalindernagar, garnered the highest votes in public voting.
