IITs Set to Kick Off Placement Season on December 1st
Upcoming Placement Season at IITs
The eagerly anticipated placement season is about to commence at premier engineering institutes across the nation. Starting December 1st, all major IITs, including IIT Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, BHU, Roorkee, and Guwahati, will initiate their first phase of campus placements. This period will see numerous companies, both domestic and international, conducting interviews to offer job opportunities to students. The placement activities are scheduled to run until May, with expectations of lucrative packages from prestigious firms in sectors such as IT, management, finance, and analytics. Special measures have been implemented to alleviate student stress during this time.
Placement Activities Commence on December 1st
Throughout this period, companies will be conducting interviews around the clock to select candidates. The placement process is divided into two phases, continuing until May. Top firms in IT, management, engineering, analytics, and finance will be scouting for talent among students.
Placement officials from various institutes, including IIT Delhi, BHU, Guwahati, and Madras, anticipate that students may receive attractive job offers right from the first day. Furthermore, a significant number of pre-placement offers and multiple job opportunities are expected this year.
Focus on Student Readiness and Mental Well-being
Management at IITs is prioritizing the mental well-being of students ahead of placements. Initiatives such as counseling, therapy sessions, and mental health awareness programs are being organized. Additionally, students' dietary habits and overall health are being monitored.
Extensive training has been conducted to enhance interview skills, with expert counseling aimed at addressing individual weaknesses. Separate training sessions have also been arranged for Hindi and non-Hindi speaking students to minimize language barriers during interviews.
The IT sector is projected to lead the placements at IITs this year, with estimates suggesting that around 32% of students will secure jobs in this field. Additionally, approximately 29% are expected to find opportunities in core engineering, 14% in consultancy, 10% in management, 9% in analytics, and 4% in finance.
