The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is set to publish the GATE answer key shortly. Registered candidates will need to enter their login credentials, including their enrollment ID and password, to download the GATE 2026 answer key. Alongside the answer key, the institute will also release the GATE response sheet. This year, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) was conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The results for GATE are expected to be announced on March 19. The GATE score obtained by candidates will remain valid for three years from the date of result declaration. - Questions are assigned either 1 or 2 marks.
- There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in multiple-choice questions (MCQs). A wrong answer for a 1-mark MCQ will incur a deduction of 1/3 mark, while a 2-mark MCQ will result in a deduction of 2/3 mark.
- No negative marking is applied for incorrect answers in MSQ and NAT questions.
- Partial marking is not allowed for any question.

Candidates who participated in the exam can obtain the GATE answer key and question paper from the GOAPS portal. The download process is outlined below:

- Click on the applicant portal and enter your enrollment ID and password. Select the option to download the answer key and main question paper.

- To calculate marks, candidates must adhere to the marking scheme.

To file an objection, candidates must select the questioned item and provide valid reasoning to support their claim. After the objection window closes, experts will review the submissions, and if an objection is deemed valid, the answer key will be revised and included in the final GATE 2026 answer key. The results will be prepared solely based on the final answer key.
