GATE 2026 Registration Update

Registration Deadline Extended: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced an extension for the GATE 2026 registration. Candidates can now submit their applications online at the official website until October 6, 2025. The initial deadline was set for September 28, but it has been pushed back to accommodate more applicants.

Late Registration Option

Final Date for Late Applications: The new notification states that the deadline for applications without late fees is now October 6. For those who miss this date, registration with a late fee will be available until October 9, 2025. The late fee is ₹1,500 per paper for female candidates and those from reserved categories, while it is ₹2,500 per paper for all other candidates.

GATE Exam Schedule

Exam Dates: The GATE 2026 examination is scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15. It will be conducted in two shifts: the morning session from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Candidates can download their admit cards starting January 2, 2026, and scorecards will be available for free download from March 27 to May 31, 2026.

New Sectional Paper Introduced

Introduction of Energy Science: A new sectional paper, Energy Science, has been added to GATE 2026, which falls under the Engineering Sciences (XE) subject. Candidates can now select any two sections from the eight available under the XE subject.
