UGC-NET June 2026 Re-examinations Scheduled for English, Commerce, and Sociology
Re-examinations Announced for UGC-NET June 2026
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that re-examinations for the UGC-NET June 2026 cycle will take place for the subjects of English, Commerce, and Sociology. This decision follows the identification of multiple errors in the question papers for these subjects. Importantly, candidates will not incur any additional fees for participating in these re-examinations. The NTA has also published the exam schedule.
The NTA reported that various types of errors were detected in the question papers, including factual inaccuracies, typographical mistakes, translation issues, and grammatical errors. Furthermore, problems such as unclear wording in certain questions, misspellings of authors' names and book titles, duplicated questions, and the use of unconventional terminology for established concepts were noted.
Re-examination Schedule
**Re-examination Dates (September)**
1. English: September 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
2. Commerce: September 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
3. Sociology: September 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Results for Other Subjects Remain Unaffected
**Results for 84 Subjects on Schedule**
The NTA has confirmed that the results for the 84 subjects currently undergoing the answer key challenge will be released as per the original timeline. The re-examinations for the three subjects will not interfere with the processes related to Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor eligibility, and PhD admissions for these 84 subjects.
For the subjects being re-examined, seat allocation for JRF, Assistant Professor roles, and PhD admissions will follow the guidelines specified in the information bulletin.
Admit Card Information
**Admit Card Details to be Released on Website**
The NTA has indicated that 6% of candidates will qualify for Assistant Professor eligibility, based on the higher number of candidates from either the original June 2026 exam or the re-examination. This decision aims to uphold fairness, accuracy, and transparency in the examination process. Further details regarding exam centers, cities, and admit cards will be made available on the official website in due course.
