West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is the West Bengal state government administered autonomous examining authority for the Standard 10 examination of West Bengal, India. The examination for the 10th standard is called the Secondary examination. The Higher Secondary examination is conducted annually and simultaneously all over the state of West Bengal and also in affiliates of the board located outside West Bengal, elsewhere in India.
Time table for West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (Madhyamik Pariksha) for the year 2016 for both regular and external students was notified on October 15, 2015. All the examinations will be of 3 hours and 15 minutes duration – from 11.45am IST to 3pm IST. The first fifteen minutes is allocated for reading the question paper only. The examination starts on February 1, 2016 and will continue till March 5, 2016. First and second languages, geography, history, physical science, mathematics, life science, and optional elective subjects will take place between February 1 and February 10, 2016. While Physical Education and Social Service exams will be held from February 11 to February 25, 2016, Work Education exams will be held from March 1 to March 5, 2016.
This year, an approximate 11,58,000 students will appear for the examination. The West Bengal government has published around 12 lakh test papers and distributed them free of cost among students to help examinees score better in the Madhyamik exams.

First Languages: Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Modern Tibetan, Nepali, Odia, Gurumukhi ( Punjabi), Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Santali.
Second Languages: 1: English, if any Language other than English is offered as first Language.
