The Indian Economic Service (IES) is the administrative civil service under Grade A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. The IES was constituted in 1961 with the objective of institutionalizing a core professional capacity within the Government to undertake economic analysis and render advice for designing and formulating development policies, strengthening delivery systems, and monitoring and evaluating the public programs.
Union Public Service Commission will conduct Indian Statistical Service(ISS)/Indian Economic Service(IES) Examination, 2016. The Exam to be held on 13 May, 2016. Check the details given below.

UPSC IES/ ISS Exam Pattern 2016:-
The exam is divided into two parts:
Part I- Written Exam: The written exam carries a maximum of 1000 marks with 200 marks for each section. The time alloted for each section is 3 hours each.
Part II- Vicevoca: Candidates who clear the test would be called for a vicevoca or interview carrying a minimum of 200 marks.
1. For IES Paper Pattern 2016
- General English – 100 marks – 3 hours
- General Studies – 100 marks – 3 hours
- General Economics-I – 200 marks – 3 hours
- General Economics-II – 200 marks – 3 hours
- General Economics-III – 200 marks – 3 hours
- Indian Economics – 200 marks – 3 hours
2. For ISS Paper Pattern 2016
- General English and General Studies – 100 marks – 3 hours
- Statistics-I – 100 marks – 3 hours
- Statistics-II- 200 marks – 3 hours
- Statistics-III- 200 marks – 3 hours
