Special BTech Admission Counseling in UP for Students Without JEE or CUET Scores

New BTech Admission Opportunities in Uttar Pradesh
Students in Uttar Pradesh now have a chance to pursue BTech even if they did not take the JEE or CUET exams. The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is organizing special counseling based on 12th-grade marks to fill approximately 70,000 vacant seats in engineering colleges.
For those who aspired to enroll in BTech programs after completing their 12th grade but missed the JEE Main or CUET-UG exams, this is a significant opportunity. A considerable number of seats remain unfilled in the state's engineering institutions, prompting the university to allow admissions without these entrance exams.
AKTU oversees admissions for most engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh. So far, the university has conducted five rounds of counseling, filling around 31,000 seats. In the sixth round, about 4,000 students registered, yet around 70,000 seats are still available, including approximately 1,900 in government engineering colleges.
Details of Special Counseling
In response to the high number of vacant seats, AKTU has announced a special counseling program. This initiative will consist of two rounds, allowing admissions based not only on JEE and CUET scores but also on 12th-grade marks. This means students who have not taken any entrance exams can now apply.
The deadline for registration and fee payment for the first round is set for August 28. Following this, students can select their preferred colleges and courses until August 31, with seat allocations occurring on September 2. The second round will commence shortly after, with registration and fee submission on September 7 and 8, followed by choice filling until September 10 and seat allotment on September 11.
Good News for Students
This initiative is a welcome relief for many students who were unable to participate in national entrance exams for various reasons. It is common for students to prepare for these tests but miss them or not achieve their desired scores, leaving their BTech aspirations unfulfilled. This year, however, AKTU is providing an opportunity for these students by allowing admissions based on their 12th-grade performance.
