The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has disclosed the official details regarding MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic year. How Many Seats Have Increased in Medical Colleges?
This year has seen a rise in MBBS seats in both government and private sectors. There are currently 441 government medical colleges with a total capacity of 61,185 seats; with the addition of 2,111 new seats, the total has increased to 63,296. In the private sector, there are 382 medical colleges. With 65,843 existing seats and an addition of 7,800 new seats, the total capacity in private colleges has now reached 73,643. Additionally, 25 new medical colleges have been established this year, providing a total of 2,400 MBBS seats.
