Prepare for CTET 2026: Key Updates on Exam Date and Requirements
Important Updates for CTET 2026 Candidates
Individuals planning to take the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in 2026 should enhance their study efforts as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to announce the exam date soon. Initially set for September 6, the exam was postponed due to a court ruling, and a re-application period was provided from August 25 to September 1.
**Expected Announcement of Exam Date**
As per the previous notification from CBSE, the new exam date will be revealed after the application portal closes. It is anticipated that the announcement will occur within this week.
**Passing Marks Requirement**
To qualify for teaching positions, candidates must pass the CTET. The exam is held biannually, and candidates need to achieve specific cutoff scores: 60% for the General/Unreserved (UR) category and 55% for OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories. Those who clear Paper 1 can teach grades 1 to 5, while those passing Paper 2 can instruct grades 6 to 8.
**Availability of City Slip and Admit Card**
The city slip will be made available to all candidates 10 to 15 days prior to the exam, facilitating travel arrangements. Admit cards will be distributed four days before the exam date.
**Exam Schedule and Reporting Times**
The CTET is conducted in two shifts: the first from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and the second from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Candidates for the first shift should arrive at the exam center by 7:30 AM, while those for the second shift must report by 12:30 PM.
