NIOS Registration Deadline Extended



New Registration Date: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has announced an extension for the application deadline for its 6-month certificate course (Bridge Course) in Primary Teacher Education. Candidates now have until July 19, 2026, to submit their applications online. The application process is currently active on the official NIOS website, bridge.nios.ac.in.


This bridge course is designed for teachers who possess a B.Ed. degree and aim to continue teaching at the primary level. Its primary goal is to enhance the pedagogical skills and knowledge of teachers, enabling them to provide better education to primary students.


Details from the Official Notice:
NIOS began the registration for the 6-month certificate course (Bridge Course) in Primary Teacher Education through notification number 14/2026, released on April 15, 2026. Initially, the online registration was set to close on April 30, 2026, allowing eligible candidates to apply.


Following numerous requests from stakeholders for an extension of the registration period, the competent authority has decided to reopen the registration portal. This allows candidates who missed the original deadline to apply.


Eligibility Criteria:
This bridge course has been developed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is mandatory for primary teachers appointed between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023, based on their B.Ed. qualification, to complete this 6-month bridge course to maintain their service eligibility.


Required Documents:
- Passport-sized color photograph
- Candidate's signature
- B.Ed. mark sheet/degree certificate
- Appointment letter
- Self-declaration certificate certified by the principal of the respective school
- Any additional documents requested by NIOS.


Application Process:
1. Visit the official NIOS Bridge Course website.
2. Click on the 'Bridge Course Registration 2026' link on the homepage.
3. Register to obtain your login ID and password.
4. Log in and complete the application form with all required information.
5. Upload the passport-sized photograph, signature, B.Ed. certificate, appointment letter, and any other necessary documents.
6. Review the application details carefully.
7. Submit the application form.
