The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially annulled the NEET UG 2026 examination following a paper leak incident reported in Sikar, Rajasthan. In response, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will investigate the matter. The NTA has assured that a re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be organized soon, with a likely date set for June. Additionally, the agency confirmed that all registration fees paid for the canceled exam will be reimbursed to candidates and their parents.


Refund Details for NEET UG Registration Fees

With the cancellation of NEET UG 2026, the NTA has outlined the refund process for the registration fees. Here’s a breakdown of the fee structure based on candidate categories:

  • General Candidates: ₹1,700


  • OBC and EWS Candidates: ₹1,600


  • SC/ST Candidates: ₹1,000


  • Foreign Candidates: ₹9,500



Candidates will not need to register again for the re-examination, and the previously paid fees will be refunded.


Expected Timeline for NEET UG 2026 Re-examination

Originally scheduled for May 3, the NEET UG 2026 exam faced cancellation due to the paper leak. The NTA had intended to release results shortly after the exam, but the scandal necessitated a reevaluation. The re-examination is anticipated to occur in June, primarily because the CUET UG 2026 exams are ongoing until May 30. Given the controversies surrounding the CUET UG examination centers, it is impractical to hold the NEET UG exam simultaneously. This timeline allows the NTA to enhance its logistical preparations.
