Introduction to NEET UG Counselling 2026



The online registration for Round 1 of the NEET UG counselling, organized by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), began on August 5 at 1:00 PM. Interested candidates can apply through the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in.


Counselling Overview

The NEET UG counselling process for MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, and other medical courses commenced on August 5. Candidates eligible for admission can register online at mcc.nic.in.


This counselling is specifically for the 15% All India Quota and includes seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, and other participating institutions. For the 85% State Quota seats, candidates need to register separately on their respective state counselling websites.

  • Registration: August 5 - August 12

  • Fee Payment Deadline: 6:00 PM on August 12

  • Choice Filling: August 6 - August 13

  • Choice Locking: 4:00 PM on August 12 - 11:00 AM on August 13

  • Seat Allotment Process: August 13 - August 16

  • Round 1 Results Announcement: August 17

  • Reporting to Colleges: August 16 - August 22


Steps for Registration

To register for the counselling, candidates should follow these steps:



  1. Visit the official MCC website: mcc.nic.in.

  2. Click on the 'NEET Counselling 2026 Registration' link.

  3. Complete the registration by providing the necessary details related to NEET UG 2026.

  4. Pay the required counselling fee and security deposit online.

  5. Log in to select preferred colleges and courses.

  6. Lock your choices within the specified timeframe.

  7. After the seat allotment results are published, report to the assigned college on the designated date.


Required Documents for Registration

Ensure you have the following documents ready:



  • NEET UG Scorecard

  • NEET UG Admit Card

  • Class 10 Marksheet and Date of Birth Certificate

  • Class 12 Marksheet and Passing Certificate

  • Valid Photo ID

  • Passport-sized Photograph

  • SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS Certificate (if applicable)

  • PwBD Certificate (if applicable)

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Documents for NRI Quota (if applicable)


Changes in the Counselling Process

This year, several enhancements have been made to the NEET UG counselling process. Candidates now have the option to 'Freeze' or 'Float' their allotted seats. Those who accept their seat can select 'Freeze', while those seeking a better option can choose 'Float' and participate in subsequent rounds.


Document verification will now occur online, removing the need for candidates to physically report to colleges for each round. Additionally, the process for surrendering a seat has been fully digitized, and NRI quota document verification will also be conducted online. The MCC has improved its systems for document verification, cybersecurity, and grievance resolution.
