Important Updates on NEET PG 2025 Counseling
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has announced a revised timeline for the NEET PG 2025 counseling process, much to the relief of medical postgraduate aspirants nationwide. The most significant change is that the choice filling and locking for Round 1 will commence tomorrow, November 17th.
This counseling process will cover 50% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats and all seats in deemed and central universities. Candidates must complete all procedures, including registration and seat reporting, exclusively online at mcc.nic.in.
Round 1 Counseling Choice Filling Details
The Round 1 choice filling will start on November 17th and will be open until the night of November 18th. During this period, candidates can select their preferred colleges and courses. The choice locking will occur on November 18th from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM. Prior to this, seat matrix verification at institutions is scheduled for October 23rd, with registration and fee payment deadlines set for November 5th. The MCC will allocate seats on November 19th, with results announced on November 20th. Candidates who secure seats must report between November 21st and 27th, while document verification will occur from November 28th to 30th.
Round 2 Counseling Process
Round 2 will be a more expedited process. Seat matrix verification is set for December 1st, with registration and choice filling available from December 2nd to 7th. The choice locking will happen on the evening of December 7th, followed by seat allocation on December 8th and 9th, with results released on December 10th. Candidates who are selected must report from December 11th to 18th, and document verification will take place from December 19th to 21st. This round is particularly advantageous for those who did not secure a seat in Round 1 or wish to upgrade their choices.
Round 3 and Stray Vacancy Round
The final regular round, Round 3, will initiate with seat matrix verification on December 22nd. Registration will be open from December 23rd to 28th, and choice filling will occur from December 24th to 28th. Choice locking is scheduled for December 28th, with seat allocation completed by December 29th and 30th, and results announced on December 31st, 2025. Candidates must report between January 1st and 8th, 2026, while document verification will be conducted from January 9th to 11th. Following this, the stray vacancy round will provide a final opportunity to fill any remaining seats.
Seat matrix verification for the stray vacancy round will take place on January 12th, with registration and option filling from January 13th to 18th. Choice locking will occur on January 18th, and seat allocation will be finalized from January 19th to 20th. Results will be published on January 21st, and candidates can report until January 31st, 2026.
