Overview of NEET Fee Refund

Students seeking a refund for their NEET fees should first navigate to the official NEET website. There, they will find a link titled 'Fee Refund' or 'Update Bank Details'. To proceed, students must log in using their Application Number and credentials.

Details on the Refund Process

In light of the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the fee refund process for affected students. The exam, which was scheduled for May 3rd, faced cancellation due to controversies involving a paper leak and other irregularities, leaving numerous students awaiting their fee refunds. The NTA has confirmed that no extra fees will be charged for the examination, and the previously paid application fees will be refunded.

To facilitate this process, the NTA has enabled an option for students to update their bank account information on its official website. Students can update their bank details by visiting the NEET portal, after which the refund will be directly credited to their accounts. The NTA anticipates that the refund process will be finalized within 24 to 48 hours after the bank details are submitted.

Steps to Claim the Fee Refund

To initiate the fee refund, students must visit the NEET website and locate the 'Fee Refund' or 'Update Bank Details' link. After logging in with their Application Number and credentials, they should carefully input their bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder's name. Once this information is submitted, the refund will be processed to the specified account. The NTA has urged students to double-check their bank details to prevent any errors that could delay the refund.

Support for Students Using Cyber Cafes

Many students submitted their applications through cyber cafes or Common Service Centers (CSCs), raising concerns about refunds being credited back to the original payment accounts. The NTA has addressed this issue, stating that students can update their bank account details to any account of their choice, including their parents' accounts, to ensure the refunds are directed correctly.

No Extra Fees for Re-Examination

The NTA has confirmed that students will not need to reapply or pay additional fees for the NEET UG re-examination set for June 21. Their original registrations will remain valid, and admit cards will be issued directly. The re-examination will take place in offline mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with over 2.2 million students expected to participate. While the examination medium remains unchanged, students have the option to select a different examination city.

Changing Examination Center

In response to the paper leak incident, many students have relocated to their hometowns or other cities. To accommodate this, the NTA has opened a window for students to change their examination city. Students can choose a new city based on their convenience, but the final allotment of examination centers will depend on seat availability. Additionally, different fee structures were applied to various candidate categories for NEET UG 2026: General candidates paid ₹1,700, OBC and EWS candidates paid ₹1,600, while SC/ST candidates paid ₹1,000. Foreign candidates were charged ₹9,500, which will also be refunded.
