Madhya Pradesh TET 2026 Guidelines Released: Key Details for Teachers

Overview of TET Guidelines 2026

The Madhya Pradesh Education Department has clarified the requirements for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for 2026. As per the new guidelines, it is essential for teachers who have not yet passed the TET, as mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, to take the upcoming exam. This year, the TET will be administered in an offline format by the Board of Secondary Education.

Eligibility Criteria for TET

The guidelines specify that various categories of teachers are required to participate in the TET. This includes:

1. Assistant Teachers at the primary level

2. Primary Teachers

3. Contract School Teachers (Category-3)

4. Primary Teachers (Science/Laboratory)

5. High-Grade Teachers

6. Middle School Teachers

7. Contract School Teachers (Category-2) at the secondary level.

Importantly, teachers who have already qualified through the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are exempt from taking the TET. Additionally, teachers from private schools instructing primary and secondary classes are also eligible to sit for this test.

Application Deadline and Exam Centers

Applications for the TET must be submitted through the Staff Selection Board's online portal, with a final submission date set for October 5, 2026. The Education Department has indicated that exam centers will be assigned based on the district where the teachers are currently employed.

Special arrangements have been made for teachers from Pandhurna and Mauganj districts, allowing them to take the exam at designated centers in Chhindwara and Rewa districts, respectively. However, if the number of candidates in a district is minimal, the MP Board may allocate exam centers in nearby districts or at the divisional level.

Current Application Status

It has been reported that around 1.5 lakh teachers are eligible for this examination, yet only approximately 19,000 applications have been received to date.
