Jharkhand Academic Council Announces Fee Hike for Class 10 and 12 Exams
Jharkhand Academic Council Increases Examination Fees
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has officially sanctioned a notable increase in examination fees for students in Classes 10 and 12. This new fee structure, reflecting a rise of approximately 35%, will be implemented starting from the 2026–27 academic session. The adjustment affects all students enrolled in government and aided institutions throughout Jharkhand. The application process for the forthcoming board examinations commenced on Tuesday.
This decision was reached during a recent board meeting, where the council assessed the current fee structure and approved the proposed increases. JAC indicated that the revised fees aim to enhance administrative functions and examination-related processes.
Updated Fee Structure for Class 10
According to the new fee schedule:
1. Girls and students from SC, ST, BC-1, and BC-2 categories will now pay ₹980 for the Class 10 board examination.
2. Students from General and EWS categories will be required to pay ₹1,180.
3. Private candidates taking the Class 10 exam will also incur a fee of ₹1,180.
4. An additional late fee of ₹500 will apply to all categories for applications submitted after the deadline.
Increased Fees for Class 12 Students
The fee increase also extends to Class 12 students:
1. Girls and students from SC, ST, BC-1, and BC-2 communities will pay ₹1,100.
2. General and EWS candidates must pay ₹1,400.
3. Private students appearing for the Class 12 board exam will also be charged ₹1,400.
Additionally, JAC has raised fees for students wishing to retake exams for improved scores.
Online Application Process Commences
The Jharkhand Academic Council has initiated the online application process for Class 10 and 12 board exams starting from 18 November. Eligible students can complete their examination forms via the official website: www.jac.jharkhand.gov.in.
To apply, students should visit the website and access the ‘Exam Form Portal’. The application period without late fees is open from 18 November to 5 December. Those who miss this deadline can still apply between 6 December and 12 December, albeit with a late fee.
Uniform Fee Implementation Across Schools
The revised fee structure will be uniformly applied across all government and aided schools in Jharkhand. The board has stated that the increased fees are anticipated to enhance examination processes and administrative efficiency, ensuring a smoother conduct of board exams in future sessions.
As preparations for the board exams ramp up, students are encouraged to complete their applications within the designated timeline and carefully review all details prior to submission. The new fee policy marks a significant change in the state's academic administration and exam management framework.
